Engineering

What is Engineering?

At its heart, Engineering is a profession built around the goal of being useful. It could be simple, daily value, like providing a road beneath your feet or a stream of clean water to your house. It could be complex and extraordinary, like taking a lump of aluminum and turning it into a machine that can soar across the sky. Engineers learn an extensive amount of mathematics and physical science to make these outcomes possible and, as the National Academy of Engineering would say, we're calling all big thinkers.

Engineering at LAVC

A variety of Engineering courses are offered at LAVC.   All courses are UC and CSU transferable and an AS degree in Engineering may also be earned.  For additional information, see the College Catalog or speak with an Academic Counselor.

Prerequisites

Advanced courses generally have prerequisites. If you feel you have met these prerequisites you can meet with a counselor or contact the Department to have your prerequisite validated.

If you would like to challenge a course prerequisite, fill out a Prerequisite Challenge Form and email it to the Department along with supporting documentation, such as unofficial transcripts. Emails must be from your LACCD student email address.
